Is it possible to measure the endothelium through swollen or opaque corneas

The cornea is part of the optical system that provides the endothelial image to the specular microscope. If the cornea is compromised then this will affect the image quality. It may still be possible to image the endothelium through corneal oedema but we advise that you examine the data carefully and check the cell count.

Imaging through an opaque cornea is not possible with any specular microscope.
